10 Most Pointless WWE Returns
8. Alberto Del Rio
When you beat John Cena on your first night back to win the United States Championship, you have to imagine that your employers have something big in the pipeline.
Alberto Del Rio, however, saw his initial push derailed within a matter of weeks after seeing a hopeful run at the vacant WWE Title ended at the hands of Roman Reigns, quickly followed by defeat - and loss of his US belt - to Kalisto.
Soon after, Del Rio's second WWE run was officially confirmed pointless when he joined Sheamus and Rusev in the short-lived League of Nations stable, where he remained pretty much up until walking out on the company in August last year.
Having remained on the company's books for close to a year, you can't really say this was completely fruitless, but given that he was confined to the under-card, it was almost entirely pointless - especially when you consider that he would join rivals GFW the following year a bigger star for having butted heads with WWE management.
