6. Shawn Michaels Wins The Elimination Chamber

Though an undeniable feel-good moment buried deep in WWE's Madison Square Garden legacy, Shawn Michaels' World Title win at the climax of Survivor Series 2002's Elimination Chamber main event was an empty gesture too late from outgoing champion Triple H.

In fact, in the short life of the controversial title (and Triple H's love affair with it), Shawn Michaels was just about the only person 'The Game' fancied putting over.

Having squashed Rob Van Dam and Kane in pay-per-view matches after his Summerslam defeat to 'HBK' in August, Triple H had a vice-like squeeze on the title he'd only loosen for his best friend. And even then, that was for a one-month novelty reign in order to win the feud outright.

Seeing off potential Raw challengers Chris Jericho, Booker T and the aforementioned Kane and Van Dam, the former and future D-Generation-X buddies had a vanity brawl before Shawn marked his the start of his career renaissance with Sweet Chin Music and a lone World Title reign.

A month later, they'd let their egos run wild in an absurd three stages of hell match at December's Armageddon pay-per-view that ran nearly forty minutes and featured a flaming barbed wire board, and Michaels tumbling from a ladder through four tables.
