At WrestleMania 31, Sting somehow managed to snap Triple H's sledgehammer in two with his baseball bat. This was the first time something like that had happened, as 'The Game' had regularly used the weapon to secure some of his biggest victories. Fans know things are getting serious when Triple H reaches under the ring to grab that hammer.

There's something vicious and brutal about the mere thought of any wrestler using a sledgehammer. Feeding into the 'Cerebral Assassin' gimmick Triple H used in the early 2000s, Jim Ross on commentary was able to put over how sick and vindictive the man was if he wished to cripple opponents with the object.

Today, the weapon still holds some sway. Maybe that's because it doesn't show up every week, and there's a special aura to the sledgehammer that Triple H has been able to maintain. Whenever he does wheel it out, audiences 'ooh' and 'ah' in anticipation.

Attacking everyone from Steve Austin and The Rock to The Undertaker and John Cena with the weapon, Triple H has created one of WWE's most powerful visuals. The image of him standing with the hammer at ringside is now legendary.
