10 Most Prestigious Wrestling Tournaments Of All Time

9. La Leyenda De Plata (CMLL)

Named after El Santo (the silver-masked one), this tournament is the most prestigious of all tournaments in CMLL. It follows a Torneo Cibernetico format, where two teams face each other to qualify for the tournament. Team members can only tag in and out in a certain order, and if there are multiple survivors on the winning team, they must fight each other to earn a spot in the tournament. Clearly, this is a tournament where competitiveness is at its highest. This tournament is a highlight to lucha libre fans everywhere, because the wrestlers involved bring their best in order to honor the legendary Santo. Some of the most outstanding lucha wrestlers in the world made their name at this tournament, including Negro Casas, Perro Aguayo Jr., and Mistico (before he was tainted by his run in WWE). If you want to see some of the best high-flying action coupled with colorful masked characters, a strong respect for tradition and honouring a legendary wrestler, watch this tournament. The only reason it doesn€™t rank higher on this list is because it€™s not held every year, and because there have been some serious questions around it regarding the son of El Santo. Other than that, it€™s a great launching pad for the lucha libre stars of tomorrow.
