10 Most Protected WWE Wrestlers Ever

2. Andre The Giant

It is an often-spoken 'fact', but Andre the Giant didn't lose cleanly for 15 years. This may or may not be true, who knows, but Andre the Giant certainly was hugely protected. He had to be; he was arguably the main attraction in the entire industry throughout his career. An Andre appearance was rare, and an Andre loss was even rarer.

With the advent of WrestleMania Andre's matches became rarer and rarer as his physical condition declined. A heel turn to build to the main event of WrestleMania III saw him begin to rack up the defeats, although the vast majority of these came by disqualification in dark matches.

Andre the Giant lost one match cleanly by pin-fall in WWF, and what a loss it was. Hulk Hogan pinned him cleanly at the end of WrestleMania III, after the most famous bodyslam in the history of professional wrestling.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
