10 Most Radical Wrestling Makeovers

3. Cody Rhodes To Stardust

Versatility has always been one of Cody Rhodes' great strengths. He's been in equal parts effective as a face and a heel, and has even managed to appeal to hardcore and mainstream audiences alike without turning his back on either.

But perhaps his greatest chameleon act came in 2014, when he began portraying Stardust, a nod both to his dad - who had briefly used the same name during his AWA days - and of course his eccentric older brother.

Physically speaking, this makeover was incredibly bold. Cody's previous gimmick was explicitly rooted in what a "dashing" young buck he was; to go from that to wearing a skin-tight spandex body suit and head-to-neck bright-coloured face-paint is a pretty sharp turnaround.

The persona, too, was completely removed from anything he had done before. Where he had previously played the role of an entitled, wrestling-in-my-blood second-generation rookie, he was now trying to entertain the crowd, appealing to the nostalgia of yesteryear.
