Lana's tenure with WWE ran parallel to Rusev's for obvious reasons. After everything that's happened, onward her WWE career ticks.
It began back in 2014 when she was a hard-faced propaganda merchant for Rusev, in the 'Russian' portion of their timeline. She would of course talk in that same accent and advocate her hero at the time, Vladimir Putin, with authoritarian vigour. WWE then used this work to run the patriot gauntlet like it was WrestleMania 7 all over again.
The Lana we see on Raw today is such a different character, a double take may be in order for those who didn't watch WWE for 6 years. Gone is the accent to say the least, and after an excessive run of dubious love stories, Lana sits firmly in self-made territory. Watching her last match alongside Natalya indicates that she's used as little more than a bump machine at present, but her adaptive skills, her legacy and her stamina proves infallibly that there is more to be utilised.
A fresh singles run is surely well deserved.
