10 Most Random AEW Appearances

7. Samuray Del Sol

Jun Akiyama in AEW was random, but it worked because of Eddie Kingston's desire to fight him.

Big Damo in AEW was random, but it worked because of Shawn Spears' development at the time.

Juice Robinson in AEW was random, but it worked because of his history with Jon Moxley.

How do you begin to explain Samuray del Sol, the former Kalisto, in AEW then?

Appearing alongside fellow aerial artist Aero Star of early Lucha Underground fame, the two-time WWE United States Champion was sent out on the 3 November 2021 AEW Dynamite in his finest Rey Mysterio cosplay to challenge defending AAA World Tag Team Champions, FTR. Disaster struck, as Aero Star flopped around the ring, both Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler - and at times Samuray del Sol - unaware of what was to come next.

Samuray, in his defence, didn't look too shabby in an AEW ring. His movements were meaningful, his timing precise, and his offence not too far off the fence. That this was his first post-WWE outing can be touted as the reason for his less-than-perfect performance; the makings were there, though, for a solid AEW and/or ROH midcarder.
