10 Most Random Full-Time WWE Returns

2. Tatanka

Tatanka made his first televised appearance in the WWF in early 1992. He was given a big push out of the gate, and was a higher-end midcard talent throughout his run. He decided to leave the company in March of 1996. This was before Austin 3:16, and before D-Generation X. He ended up missing the entire Attitude Era, and a few additional years for good measure.

In 2005, Tatanka returned when he competed in the Eugene invitational. It was admittedly kind of a fun moment. We hadn’t seen the former superstar in years, and he looked to be in pretty good (though not crazy muscular) shape. This incredibly random appearance landed him a full time deal at the age of 44.

WWE actually pumped a bit of money into his return, as they filmed a series of vignettes with the Oglala Sioux Tribe. But he was never given the push he had before, and was mainly used as a mid-card act. He turned heel due to what he perceived as bad officiating, and changed up his look by adopting some black and white face paint.

Then, just as randomly as he got his job back after nine years away, he disappeared once again.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
