10 Most Random Full-Time WWE Returns

6. Terry Funk

Chainsaw Charlie
WWE.com

In the mid 1980s, Terry Funk was one of the wildest men in the World Wrestling Federation. Despite having battles with Hulk Hogan at the top of the card, he left the company and traveled the world continuing to compete in incredibly violent, and legendary matches.

He was already in his early 40s when he left the WWF, so every year away, a return seemed less and less likely. But in 1997, while he was in his mid 50s, Funk returned...well, kind of. The hardcore hero now wanted to be known as Chainsaw Charlie. It made no damn sense.

He wore pantyhose over his face and swung a chainsaw around. Eh, what the hell, why not?

Well, despite just coming out of retirement for his WWF run, he only stuck around for about six months before quietly retiring again for the second of roughly 47 times.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
