Over the years, many wrestlers have used song lyrics in their promos, to great effect. Jake Roberts would often borrow dark or menacing lyrics from the songs of Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and Pink Floyd. Dusty Rhodes gave his outlaw promos a little extra western flavor by quoting the words of Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. However, at SummerSlam '90, just seconds before heading into a violent grudge match with the three face-painted monsters of Demolition, Bret decided to quote Phil Collins. Yes, that Phil Collins. There was just something amazing about Bret calmly wrapping up his promo with the words, "You know, it's just like Phil Collins says..." Bret then threatened the ass kicking combo of Ax, Smash and Crush with his Collins lyric: "We're two hearts beating as one." What made the moment even better was that Bret looked seriously proud of himself, following his delivery with an almighty smug look of self-satisfaction while the Anvil burst into a deranged laugh. It may have been a cute line, but you probably registered a zero on the intimidation scale there, Bret.
