Hopes were high for Kurt Angle's WWE return in 2017. Once his Hall Of Fame induction was out of the way, most fans figured the Olympian would settle into a groove as new Raw GM and use that platform to set up a string of mega-matches that had topped 'if only' lists for years.

Instead, creative decided to use Angle's star power in a bid to elevate Jason Jordan up the card. How did they do this? Did Kurt start managing Jordan and hype up his abilities? Did Jason benefit from Angle's powers as Raw GM? Nah, WWE's idea ran deeper than that.

They suddenly revealed that Jordan was Angle's estranged son from a fling in early-1988.

The crowd's reaction was shock, but not 'ooh, we're really invested' shock. Fans looked around at one another wondering what WWE was playing at, and the reveal did nothing for Jason's company career. In short, it was a complete and utter waste of time, and a preposterous notion that should've been left on the cutting room floor.
