5. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania 13

At WrestleMania 12, Shawn Michaels defeated Bret Hart in an Iron Man match to claim his first WWE Championship. The following year at WrestleMania 13, Michaels was supposed to return the favor, putting Hart over for the title in the show's main event. Of course, the two men didn't get along very well and Michaels, not keen to lose to his rival, forfeited the title on Raw in February of 1997, citing a knee injury and a "lost smile."

Things worked out okay for Hart - he took on Steve Austin in what was probably the greatest match in WrestleMania history, stealing an otherwise humdrum show and kick-starting the Attitude Era. The main event, though, was completely forgettable, as The Undertaker defeated Sycho Sid to win the WWE Championship in a lousy match.

And where was Michaels? He wasn't wrestling, but he had to be a part of the main event, so he was at the commentary booth. As Undertaker and Sid battled - and as Hart got involved - Michaels made sure he could be heard cracking jokes and putting himself over.
