6. Vince McMahon - WrestleMania 22

At WrestleMania 21, Shawn Michaels had an all-time classic match against Kurt Angle. At WrestleMania 23, he headlined the show in a great main event with John Cena. In between those two shows, though, he took on Vince McMahon.

WrestleMania 22 was a show that was weak on paper and fairly weak in execution, and the fault lay exclusively with whomever was calling the shots. Things could have been structured differently, but Vince McMahon decided not to make the most of his roster. In the end, Edge and a retired Mick Foley ended up having the only truly memorable match of the evening.

McMahon's own hubris meant that he competed against Michaels at the show, wrestling in a hardcore match with all manner of bells and whistles (including interference from The Spirit Squad and Shane McMahon, and an attempt by Vince to make HBK join the "Kiss My Ass" club). It would all play into a later match where Michaels teamed up with God and, eventually, a DX reunion.

The match itself wasn't bad, but it's hard not to think about what could have been if Michaels were put against Edge or Rey Mysterio.
