10 Most Shocking Appearances Of Blood In The PG Era

5. CM Punk (Money In The Bank 2013)

Unlucky for some, the 13 stitches CM Punk received following a brutal ladder assault from former best friend Paul Heyman were individual measures of his longtime associate's betrayal.

Since returning a a month earlier as a babyface, the 'Voice Of The Voiceless' had requested an amicable parting with his former advocate, drawing a reluctant acquiescence from the former ECW doyen.

Heyman revealed the extent of his inner rage in the multi-man ladder clash, smashing a ladder into Punk's back as he scaled another one attempting to reach the Money In The Bank briefcase.

As the former WWE Champion looked on in pained shock, Heyman struck again, levelling his former charge with two more brutal strikes to the head to take him completely out of contention. With Daniel Bryan otherwise disposed, Punk was the overwhelming crowd favourite remaining, and the assault was equally as cruel on the crowd.

Punk disappeared from view to facilitate a referee clean-up job and Randy Orton's anticlimactic victory, but the scale of the cut was visible on the TitanTron as Heyman departed.

Again adding to the drama of the severance of their relationship, it was regrettable that WWE were no longer able to linger on the blood that drained from Punk's head as a reasonable compromise for the life draining from the capacity crowd.
