10 Most Shocking Vince McMahon Controversies
3. Multiple Sexual Harassment Lawsuits
Vince McMahon can’t seem to keep his hands to himself, and over the last thirty years has been accused of sexual harassment on more than one occasion. As recently as 2006, McMahon was accused of sexual harassment by a tanning bar employee in Florida, although ultimately no charges were filed.
In 1999, the former WWE Diva Sable filed a $110 million lawsuit against WWF citing allegations of sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions, stemming from incident where she was asked to perform topless. McMahon countersued over control of the name “Sable” and eventually the case was settled out of court.
The most damning accusations came in the early nineties when a former WWF referee named Rita Chatterton went on Geraldo Rivera’s Now It Can Be Told to accuse McMahon of sexual assault. Chatterton alleged that on July 16th, 1986, McMahon tried to force her into performing oral sex on him in his limousine, and when she refused she was raped.
McMahon was never charged with any offence as the statute of limitations had expired, but there is a lot of evidence to suggest he has a history of awful, entitled behaviour towards women.
