The image of Chris Jericho slowly turning over the new List Kevin Owens gifted him to discover that his name was on the other side was absolutely heartbreaking for a lot of fans. They had been positively inseparable for the best part of six months.

Then again, Y2J kind of had it coming. He volunteered KO to compete in a Universal Championship match with Goldberg at Fast Lane, virtually guaranteeing that the Prizefighter wouldn't be heading into WrestleMania with world title gold around his waist.

Moreover, Jericho was a veteran weight that a young guy like Owens couldn't really afford to lug around any more. There had been too many occasions when his fellow Canadian was simply getting in the way, and drastic measures ultimately had to be taken.

That said, the moment he turned was still pretty shocking. It seemed more likely that they would wait until after Owens' defeat at Fast Lane - for it to happen instead at the Festival of Friendship itself was a stroke of genius from the writers, and it made for one of the best non-wrestling segments of 2017.
