10 Most Shocking WWE PPV Squash Matches Of All Time
4. Chris Benoit Vs. Orlando Jordan - SummerSlam 2005
One year after losing his coveted World Heavyweight Championship to Randy Orton, Chris Benoit was intent on regaining gold at SummerSlam 2005 - this time, focusing his attention on the United States Championship.
His opposition that night was reigning US Champ, Orlando Jordan, in a rematch from the previous month's Great American Bash. With Jordan victorious at The Bash, Benoit looked to avenge his loss; meanwhile, the cocky OJ had predicted an unprecedented knockout loss for the hardened 'Crippler'.
By the time they shared the ring at SummerSlam, fans were eager to see 'The Rabid Wolverine' gain his revenge. Given that their previous PPV bout had gone just under 15 minutes, a similar competitive match-up was expected when they tied up once more at the summer spectacular. To the shock of many, that assumption couldn't have been more wrong.
With one German Suplex and a Crippler Crossface, Chris Benoit was crowned the US Champion. From start to finish, the exchange lasted just 25 seconds, bringing Jordan's 173 day title run to a spectacular end.
Jordan would lose to Benoit in similar fashion three more times on SmackDown in the month that followed; none of those rematches would last more than 50 seconds. The decisive losses proved costly for Jordan's career and he was gone from WWE less than a year later.
