10 Most Totally Random WWE Matches Ever

8. The Shield Vs. Kane & The New Age Outlawz - WrestleMania XXX

Fought under the lesser-celebrated "You've earned a spot on the card so here, have this" stipulation, this was such bizarre use of the Shield.

Three great-looking and distinctly talented super-pushed projects, the Shield starred in the last WWE moment it was thought the company were capable of building towards a great new future. They worked a pretty good if not really organic match at 'Mania the prior year, in an indictment of how the marquee show had come to overshadow the full-time roster. This was stranger, not that it didn't possess (a degree of) storyline reasoning. The stable had turned face, and targeted the Authority, but only after an overt break-up tease had been retconned following Elimination Chamber.

In retrospect, it's better to think of Kane getting upset at the Shield displaying proper face covering etiquette during their entrance. He couldn't abide Dean Ambrose et al. limiting the spread of disease because it was the right of some octogenarian taking his grandchild to the show to fight for his life against an invisible and indirect killer.

It was a really fun squash, if bittersweet, that didn't, at least, patronise the audience into taking Road Dogg seriously as anything but an ageing chud.

Wasn't even the most batsh*t match the Shield worked...
