10 Most Underrated ECW Revival Championship Matches

2. Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin (WWE TLC 2009)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvc3VhQZa-8 Making the list for the fifth time, Christian really was the saving grace of WWE's ECW in its final year. From William Regal to Ezekiel Jackson, he could be counted on to have a good match with essentially anyone on the roster. Arguably, though, his toughest challenge as champion came at the inaugural WWE TLC pay-per-view where he was set to defend his ECW Championship against Shelton Benjamin in the ever exciting Ladder match. It may have felt like the long awaited matchup between these two came five years later than it should have, but you would have never known from watching this match. Even at 36 years of age, Christian could still deliver at the top of his game, while Benjamin was among the most skilled (and underutilized) athletes on the entire roster. Not only that, but both thrived in the Ladder match environment; thus, it was a recipe for success. Both seasoned veterans put it all on the line in the night's opening bout, throwing caution to the wind all for the ECW Championship. Despite getting busted open early on in the contest, Christian persevered and refused to give up; that's how much importance the ECW title had to him. Benjamin, on the other hand, was looking to prove he was worthy of being a champion, and he did just that by pulling out all the stops. In the end, Christian ascended the ladder to maintain his possession on the prestigious prize, setting the bar for every other match on the card that was forced to follow.
