10 Most Underrated ECW Revival Championship Matches

3. Christian vs. Jack Swagger (Backlash 2009)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BY7YbL1dm8 Following a three year absence from WWE, Christian made his long awaited return to WWE on ECW in February 2009. Although it was initially seen as a "punishment" in the eyes of the fans, going to the Land of Extreme ultimately ended up being the best thing for him. On the main roster, there's no doubt he would've been lost in the shuffle within a few months, whereas he was able to make ECW his own all the while mixing it up with (and putting over) younger talent. From the instant he debuted on ECW, Christian had his sights set on Jack Swagger and the ECW Championship he was holding. He put out a championship challenge to the winner of the title bout between Swagger and Finlay at No Way Out, which ended up being Swagger. On the Feb. 23 edition of ECW, they clashed with the title on the line, and even though the self-proclaimed wrestling prodigy came out on top, Christian wasn't going to give up just yet. In April, Christian won a "Championship Chase" to become the No. 1 contender to the gold yet again at the Backlash pay-per-view. Not only was their match as good as the first two times they faced off, it was better. It meant more now that Captain Charisma had to work his way back up, and Swagger had his first truly great match against him. The fans were really starting to buy into Swagger as the brand's top heel, and to top it all off, he had the perfect babyface foil in Christian. After a hard-fought battle, Christian outsmarted Swagger by allowing him to run face first into an exposed turnbuckle, capitalizing with the Killswitch to score his first taste of WWE gold in nearly five years.
