10 Most Underrated UFC Bouts Of 2019

2. Stephen Thompson Vs. Anthony Pettis (UFC Fight Night 148)

Coming into UFC Fight Night 148, Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson and Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis had both recently lost to Darren Till and Tony Ferguson, respectively.

So, they were both in search of a much needed win to re-establish some of the momentum that had been stolen away from them.

Thompson showed Pettis a great deal of respect - in his rival's return to Welterweight - and tried to keep him at bay by using his superior reach to strike from a distance with his trademark selection of high/low kicks.

The strategy looked to be working a treat, as Thompson easily outstruck Pettis in the first round and took that confidence into the second. Looking as though he was in complete control of proceedings, 'Wonderboy' even delivered a delicious inverted heel kick at one point in the round.

Then, just as Pettis seemed to be reeling from the constant barrage of diverse kicks and straights Thompson had been throwing, 'Showtime' pushed off of the cage and delivered a stunning Superman-punch to his adversary.

Thompson was downed and after Pettis followed up with a few more shots, he was dragged away for the KO victory.

A fight which clearly looked to be heading one way, was quickly flipped on its head by one of the most shocking and underrated KO's of 2019.
