10 Most Underrated Wrestlers In The World Today

8. Sheamus

Much of the hatred surrounding Sheamus' position in WWE has dissipated over the past few years. Now that he's out of the spotlight, the Irishman's mob of critics have largely backed down, though there's still a strong contingent who'd rather he wasn't on their screen every week.

This is primarily down to lingering biases from his time as a main eventer. Sheamus' 18-second WrestleMania squash of Daniel Bryan stands as the most prominent example, but he has continually been pushed into big spots when the fans would've preferred someone else. "Overpushed," "shoved down our throats," "overrated": you know the criticisms by now.

The complaints themselves aren't an issue, but their volume has completely obscured Sheamus' working ability which is up there with the best in the company. He has been one of WWE's most consistent performers for years, putting on great weekly TV matches with shocking regularity, but unlike his partner Cesaro (who is widely acknowledged as one of the best in the world), Sheamus' ability is rarely recognised.

Sheamus, like so many before him, is a victim of poor booking and cringeworthy character direction. The criticism is subsiding, but it still lingers, and he should be considered underrated until it disappears completely.
