10 Most Underrated Wrestlers In The World Today

5. Gran Metalik

Gran Metalik is the most underutilised wrestler in WWE today, and it's not even close.

A high-flyer par excellence, he shone in last year's Cruiserweight Classic tournament, putting on great matches with opponents as diverse as TJ Perkins, Tajiri, and Zack Sabre Jr. All signs pointed towards him becoming one of the reborn division's centerpieces, but he didn't even debut on 205 Live until the show's 12th week, and has since been consigned to Main Event.

Metalik's first 205 appearance came in February, but he didn't appear again until May. He has since made just one further appearance (a loss to Tony Nese), and unfortunately, his usage rate doesn't look like it'll improve anytime soon.

WWE, like NJPW before them, have no idea what they have in Metalik. The company's style has naturally curbed his high-flying inhibitions, but he's the definition of a human highlight reel between the ropes, and rarely fails to capture an audience's attention with his dazzling athleticism. Metalik is exactly the kind of wrestler WWE's cruiserweight division needs to break its current tedium, and fans aren't going to realise just how good he is until the company recognise this.
