10 Most Underrated WWE Feuds Of The Attitude Era
1. The Rock Vs. Ken Shamrock
The transition from Rocky Maivia to The Rock was not exactly what you'd call 'smooth'. He only turned heel because audiences were having none of his prescribed nice guy routine, chanting "Die Rocky Die" and "Rocky Sucks" during his matches.
And although we frequently look back on his promos with The Nation of Domination as the turning point in his character arc, it's important to remember the other crucial element that made him a legitimate bad guy: his feud with Ken Shamrock.
This likely doesn't get as much attention now because The Rock had significantly higher profile feuds during the era - and in fact, this overlapped with his Faarooq feud and his first Stone Cold storyline - but it provided some of his best heel moments from that time period.
Remember the time he clocked Shamrock with brass knuckles and then hid them in Shamrock's tights? Classic Ric Flair move there. Or how about when The Rock clocked him with a steel chair, only for Shamrock to literally ask for another one, which resulted in one of the most brutal chair shots of all-time?
And of course, Shamrock looked like a million bucks in the ring, in part because The Rock is one of the greatest sellers in the history of the business and made Shamrock look even more dangerous than usual.
