3. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Batista - No Mercy 2005

Not many people in the Smackdown locker room liked Batista when he jumped there from Raw in the summer of 2005. 'The Animal' had offended pretty much everyone with comments he had made to UK newspaper The Sun earlier in the year where he accused them of being lazy and having no passion. That was a mistake on Big Dave's part and not a smart thing to do with a locker room full of grizzled veterans like Hardcore Holly, Booker T and JBL. One of those grizzled veterans, Eddie Guerrero, sympathised with Batista and lent him his support and love when he was struggling to make friends and draw houses. Eddie'd had a strange 2005. He was as good as he'd ever been in his feud with Rey Mysterio but his body was falling apart at an alarming rate. Prior to his death, Eddie did not have a good night's sleep for two weeks because of the constant pain in his hips, back and joints. But, as beat down as Eddie was, he was still a hell of a performer and knew how to put on a pay-per-view caliber main event. Eddie squared off with Batista in the last match at No Mercy (on his 38th Birthday). Despite the size difference and dodgy 'is he a good guy or is he a bad guy?' story line, the two had a great, often overlooked match. A superstar worker until the end, Eddie fought through the pain and gave his all for the fans.
