10 Most Underrated WWE PPV Main Events Of The 2000s
2. The Elimination Chamber - SummerSlam 2003
The second Elimination Chamber match ever is not fondly remembered for the simple fact that Triple H retained his World Heavyweight Championship in it. Fans wanted Goldberg, who had a rough start to life in WWE but recovered over the summer, to take the gold instead. It was an admittedly deflating and nonsensical finish. Triple H was going into the match with a banged-up body and was limited as to what he could do. Triple H felt that when Goldberg won the belt it should be after a chase and a long, twenty minute match, which isn't exactly Goldberg's speciality. You know what is Goldberg's speciality? Smashing through people with high-octane power moves in record time. And that's exactly what he did in the Chamber. After some decent action between Randy Orton, Shawn Michael and Chris Jericho (and, to a lesser extent, Kevin Nash) Goldberg came in and tore through everyone as the fans went ballistic. 'Da Man' spearing 'Y2J' through one of the plexiglass pods as a particular highlight. In the end it came down to Triple H and Goldberg. What happened next was gob-smackingly poor from WWE but that doesn't take away from the quality of the match. An underrated entry in the Elimination Chamber canon.
