10 Most Underrated WWE Ruthless Agression Era Stars
1. Muhammad Hassan
Possessing an athletic build, a solid main event style, and a truly heat-seeking gimmick, Muhammad Hassan seemed destined for the main event. So much so, that he would find himself sharing the ring with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 21, just four months after he debuted.
Hassan would subsequently enter into a feud with Hogan and fellow legend, Shawn Michaels, in a dream start to his WWE career. Tagging with manager, Daivari, the Arabian-American team opposed the All-American tandem at Backlash ‘05, losing the high-profile bout.
Continuing the momentum, Hassan faced both the World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion in the space of a month, interacting with'Stone Cold' Steve Austin in the weeks in between. Drafted to SmackDown, Hassan was immediately programmed with The Undertaker, setting up a match for The Great American Bash PPV.
Sadly for Hassan, WWE went too far with its anti-US angle, booking an in-ring mugging of ‘Taker by several of Hassan’s henchmen - all dressed in black balaclavas and camouflage resembling terrorists. To make matters worse, this happened to air on the same day as the 7/7 bombings in London when terrorism was not only fresh in the memory bank, it was at the very forefront of public consciousness.
Hassan’s character was immediately pulled and given the last rites at the Great American Bash ‘05, less than a year after making his debut.
