10 Most Underrated WWE Ruthless Agression Era Stars
2. Maven
Thanks to his time on the inaugural Tough Enough competition in 2001, Maven had a pre-existing relationship with the audience by the time he debuted, making him a strong babyface character right out the gate.
Maven would go on to achieve the unthinkable at Royal Rumble 2002 when he shockingly eliminated The Undertaker from the Rumble match... before taking a colossal beating for his insolence. The elimination would lead to good things for Maven, namely a WWF Undisputed Title shot against Chris Jericho the next week.
Unsuccessful in his title challenge, Maven would miraculously go on to defeat The Undertaker for WWF Hardcore Championship a week later and defended the title at WrestleMania X8 the following month. However, Maven’s momentum stalled dramatically following his switch to SmackDown and the young superstar faded away from the spotlight for much of 2003.
Despite the setback, Maven received two more World Heavyweight Title opportunities in his WWE career, both against Triple H. His feud with Evolution in late 2004 would also see him rack up a win over Batista. Alas, he was back on job duty immediately after Survivor Series ‘04.
Relegated to Sunday Night Heat for the first half of 2005, Maven was released in July and, after appearing on a handful of house shows for TNA in 2006, has wrestled only sporadically ever since.
