Entering the WWE in 2006, MVP was presented as a big deal to the Smackdown audience upon his arrival. Immediately going into a feud with Kane, MVP got off to a successful start by defeating his larger foe on several occasions.

2007 saw MVP move his focus to gold, setting his sights on the United States title held by Chris Benoit. Benoit would help carry the newcomer to arguably some of the best matches of his WWE career, including a memorable US Title bout at WrestleMania 23. MVP would eventually win the title from Benoit at Judgement Day ‘07, before entering into perhaps his most renowned series of matches with Matt Hardy.

During the course of the feud, MVP would win the Tag Titles with Hardy as well as racking up a 343 day US Title reign that was at the time a record for the WWE version of the US Championship. He would eventually lose the belt to Hardy at Backlash ‘08 and consequently head into a dreaded “losing streak” angle that lasted six months.

MVP regained the US Title before jumping ship to Raw in April '09. His stay was largely uneventful and he moved back to SmackDown the following year, before eventually leaving WWE in late 2010 to begin a successful run in New Japan.
