10 Most Underrated WWE Ruthless Agression Era Stars
3. Mr. Kennedy
A gifted talker, a charismatic individual, and a good wrestler to boot, Kennedy had everything going for him when he made his main roster debut in August 2005. His insistence on announcing himself to the ring quickly him got over as an antagonistic heel. Kennedy suffered a serious lat injury in December which would keep him out of action for almost six months.
Upon his return, Kennedy picked up where he left off, accepting the challenge of Batista and making his PPV debut at The Great American Bash. Kennedy would go on to win the US Championship later that year before entering into a feud with The Undertaker, who he defeated by DQ at No Mercy.
Following the bout, Kennedy would drop the US Title to Chris Benoit on the very next SmackDown, thanks to distraction from ‘Taker, allowing Kennedy to continue to feud with 'The Deadman' in several high-profile matches for the rest of the year.
From there, Kennedy would challenge for the World Heavyweight Title a number of times and win the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 23 along the way, before once again succumbing to injury. Kennedy would enter into one final headline feud against Shawn Michaels to close out 2007 before a largely uneventful 2008.
Kennedy was released in 2009 amid controversy after Randy Orton allegedly complained to management that he was reckless in the ring.
