10 Most Underrated WWE WrestleMania Matches Ever

7. Legion Of Doom And Ahmed Johnson Vs. Nation Of Domination - WrestleMania 13

WrestleMania 13 is mostly remembered as a one match show, and given how great Steve Austin vs Bret Hart is and the shoddiness of much of the remainder of the show, that’s mostly fair. What shouldn’t be overlooked, though, is this highly entertaining distraction, a car crash for which the word “slobberknocker” could have been invented.

The street fight between LOD and their erstwhile pal Johnson and the Farooq-led Nation succeeds mostly because it actually lives up to its billing. For the most part there’s no attempt to perform wrestling moves or do anything slick, it’s just six massive lads (and the Nation’s hangers-on) smashing each other up.

Johnson’s reputation as an unsafe worker no doubt has merit, but it’s almost a bonus here. He careens around the ringside, launching himself over the guardrail and driving Farooq through a table that, in the days of CRT monitors, looks seriously painful.

The visceral nature still leaves room for sports entertainment fun, though. Hawk attempts to brain D-Lo with a plank; he misses, hits the rope, sends the wood flying into the air and catches it, which is just great. The ending sees a Doomsday Device, LOD win, post-match brawl, and some more Doomsday Devices. What more could you want?
