10 Most Underrated WWE WrestleMania Matches Ever

5. William Regal vs Chris Jericho - WrestleMania X-Seven

The unbelievably stacked nature of WrestleMania X-Seven is a blessing and a curse for this bout. On one hand, with Rock/Austin, TLC II, the McMahons, Angle/Benoit, and hardcore silliness, Jericho vs Regal was never going to be the most memorable match of the night.

On the other, though, the sheer good vibes coursing through the Reliant Astrodome means the capacity crowd is red hot for this curtain jerking match, fully invested - multiple signs and all - in an angle revolving around Y2J urinating in a teapot.

To be fair, it’s Jericho and Regal - obviously it’s going to be good. Jericho plays the gutsy babyface brilliantly here, but it’s Regal who steals the show. His every move looks so impactful, from his stretches and holds to his surprisingly explosive throws. And there’s seldom been a wrestler who can entertain more with facial contortions - he’s a joy to watch.

Jericho ultimately wins with a Lionasault after Regal almost wears him down. While it’s not the most exciting match on the card, the pair absolutely set the show off on a mark of quality.
