10 Most Underwhelming WWE Superstar Returns
8. Sycho Sid
Hey, remember that time Sycho Sid came back to the WWE to "wrestle" a squash match with Heath Slater on an episode of RAW to almost no fan reaction? That was...something.
During their incessant buildup to the 1000th episode of the program, WWE decided to bring back just about any former superstar that still had a pulse, including Bob Backlund and Doink the f**king Clown. And while most of these legends got the response they deserved - the APA got a hefty pop while Doink got chuckles and groans - Sid was met with relative indifference.
And whether you loved him or hated him during his time with the WWE, you have to admit the guy was a larger-than-life personality who dominated RAW during the mid-'90s. He's one of the only guys who ever manhandled The Undertaker. He's one of the only guys whose pops rivaled Shawn Michaels during the New Generation Era. He's a legend, through and through.
His ovation that night, however, was quizzical, to put it mildly. The fans either didn't recognize him or were too busy recalling his vomit-inducing leg injury that sent him into retirement a decade earlier. Sid basically had to ask the crowd for a pop.
The match was mercifully short, as it was obvious Sid was just going through a "greatest hits" package in the ring. Oddly enough, the fans applauded his mediocre power moves more than they had his initial entrance.
