10 Most Underwhelming WWE Superstar Returns
7. Chris Jericho...Again
Chris Jericho made what is undoubtedly one of the most iconic debuts in the history of the WWE. Unfortunately, he's made a career of constantly trying to recreate that classic moment and mega-pop with "surprising" returns to the company.
He's like the Rolling Stones: Every time you think he's finally hung up his boots, he shows up again for another farewell tour, promising this time really is the last time. But it never is. It. Never. Is.
And fans have caught onto his shenanigans, and now after his eighteenth reunion with the WWE, the cheap pops are getting harder and harder to come by. We've heard all these songs before, and it's becoming painfully obvious that he's not going to release any new material any time soon.
It certainly doesn't help that we all know how any Chris Jericho feud is going to end. The odds of Y2J emerging victorious have dropped rather drastically since he's become a part-timer. And so it doesn't mean much to score a victory over the legend at this point.
But that's not really the biggest problem with his latest return. We expect Jericho to lose. What we shouldn't expect is for Jericho's famous promo skills to take a nosedive. Despite his insistence that "one minute of Y2J is more entertaining than the rest of RAW," it's hard to get all tingly over a catchphrase as unimaginative as "rooty tooty booty".
Maybe next time Chris retires, it should be for good.
