Brock Lesnar has dished out enough burials over the years that it was only fair he should get a taste of his own medicine at some point. Who would be the man to do it, though? Cena, out for revenge after his SummerSlam humiliation? How about an up-and-comer like Braun Strowman or Samoa Joe?
Nope; turns out the man for the job was 50-year-old Goldberg, taking to the ring for the first time in more than 12 years, who needed just 86 seconds to hand the 'Beast Incarnate' the most one-sided defeat of his entire career.
More impressive than the fact that Vince McMahon was happy to throw his biggest star under the bus is that he was able to convince Brock to go along with it. Lesnar and Heyman are forever dancing to the beat of their own drum, but apparently saw value in making Goldberg look a million bucks.
More than a year later, things pretty much worked out exactly as intended. Lesnar evened the score at WrestleMania, and began one of the most dominant title runs in recent memory.
