10 Most Unexpected WWE Burials

2. Daniel Bryan

The logic behind Daniel Bryan's 18-second WrestleMania XXVIII defeat at the hands of Sheamus seems almost sound in retrospect - but that's only if you believe that WWE plans its storylines years in advance (which, apart from anything else, would be practically impossible given its propensity for injury).

In reality, it appears as though this decision was simply made in the interests of freeing up some extra time for the night's main attractions, namely Cena-Rock and Undertaker-Triple H (the latter of which, inside Hell in a Cell, went well over 40 minutes, entrances et al).

That Bryan had to be the sacrificial lamb, however, seems odd. It's almost as though the company was deliberately trying to upset its hardcore fans, who desperately yearned for the one-time indie-star to be given his moment in the spotlight.

The American Dragon bounced back with aplomb, but it was in spite of the booking - not because of it. Fans simply kept faith in the man's ability to get it done between the ropes, however determined WWE was to treat him like a joke.
