The 1993 Royal Rumble was not what one would call one of the stronger in company history. Star power was lacking, to say the least, but there were still numerous Hall of Famers to compete in that year's bout. One, in particular, would leave a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. "Macho Man" Randy Savage was the last hope fans had for someone to overcome the seemingly unstoppable force that was Yokozuna. Savage, for all that he had accomplished throughout his career, had never won a Royal Rumble.

He had never been particularly impressive in the match, either. In fact, a year earlier, he nearly was responsible for his own elimination when he dove over the top ropes at Jake Roberts. The '93 match produced similar head-scratching results as Savage delivered a huge top rope elbow drop to the massive Yokozuna. Unfortunately, that left the super heavyweight lying flat on his back, dead weight that Savage would absolutely be unable to dump over the top rope. Making matters worse was the fact that Savage went for a pinfall. A PINFALL. In the Royal Rumble match.

Yokozuna simply mustered his strength and military pressed Savage off of him and over the top rope, ending Savage's dreams of returning to the main event of WrestleMania and cashing his own ticket to the Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for that year's Showcase of the Immortals.
