10 Most Unlikely Contenders For The WWE World Title

9. Brian Kendrick

A longtime indie darling, Brian Kendrick is a fantastic wrestler who is unfortunately not 6'5" and 275 lbs. so was therefore never pushed by WWE as a main event threat.

Kendrick and Paul London formed a successful tag team on SmackDown, winning the tag titles and putting on some great matches. Kendrick seemingly turned heel by abandoning London during a match but the storyline was quickly dropped with no explanation and the team continued with no references to the turn.

With that lack of momentum, Kendrick's debut on Raw following the draft was made even stranger when he debuted as a heel with a new look and Ezekiel Jackson as his bodyguard. Like most of the people on this list, Kendrick won a battle royal to earn a spot in the Championship Scramble match at Unforgiven.

During the match, where the last man to earn a pinfall would be champion, Kendrick technically became the WWE world title holder for a total of seven minutes when he pinned Jeff Hardy during the match.

Unfortunately for Kendrick, that would be his last brush with greatness and he seems destined to work 205 Live for the rest of his career.
