10 Most Unsuccessful WWE Tournament Winners

6. Sheamus

By 2010, the King of the Ring concept had lost its prestige. It was discontinued as a pay-per-view after 2002, and subsequent editions were used to resurrect the classic king gimmick. While Booker T rejuvenated his career in the role, and William Regal parlayed his victory into a short-term main event run, Sheamus suffered a career free-fall.

Immediately after winning the tournament, Sheamus began a losing streak of epic proportions. Week after week he’d lose to John Morrison in singles and tag team action, and then he lost to Evan Bourne of all people in his return to Raw.

Meanwhile, the pasty bruiser looked ridiculous with his green cape and Celtic crown. He’d snap the streak by defeating Daniel Bryan in a U.S. Title vs. Career match, but the long-term damage had been done.
