10 Most Violent Fighters In UFC History
5. Cain Velasquez
Heavyweight fighters in MMA all seem to share very similar attributes. Although they've got the raw power to knock an opponent out with one devastating punch, they usually lack the cardio to last more than a round. Honestly, it can be quite a sad sight to behold, as these exhausted giants lumber forward, drained after just five minutes of action.
Cain Velasquez, however, managed to be the exception to the rule. Not only did he have devastating punching power, he also had the sort of cardio that would make lightweights in the UFC envious. Unless you were able to finish him, Velasquez was like a runaway train that was unstoppable once he gained momentum.
There are plenty of performances by the former UFC heavyweight champion that show how much of a brutal force he was, from smashing Brock Lesnar's face and leaving a large gash underneath his eye, to taking years off of Junior Dos Santos' life after viciously battering him in their second and third fight.
However, the bout that shows Velasquez at his absolute finest is his fight with Bigfoot Silva at UFC 146. In just over three-and-a-half minutes, Velasquez took Silva down, and punched him repeatedly before slashing his face open with a gnarly elbow, spraying Silva's blood all over the canvas and himself.
There might not be a more gory, dominating performance in UFC history and it's fitting that it comes from a fighter like Velasquez.
