10 Most Wasted WWE Royal Rumble Spots
5. The Godfather (Royal Rumble 2002)
The 2002 Royal Rumble was chockfull of surprise appearances, many of which did little to no harm aside from taking up a spot. Mr. Perfect, Goldust, and Val Venis all popped up during the match, but fans didn't seem to mind since they didn't leave the ring too long beforehand.
Along the same lines, The Godfather showed up in his full pimp regalia, but his presence wasn't quite as benign. Things could have been worse, especially if he showed up as Papa Shango or Kama instead, but it was difficult not to notice the amount of screentime he hogged up.
As expected, he stepped on the stage accompanied by his ladies, which would have been fine if he proceeded to make his way down the ramp and into the squared circle.
Of course, that wasn't the case.
Even though he already had his fair share of acquaintances, The Godfather rushed back and brought out more ladies. And then more ladies. While the schtick may have tickled fans of the gimmick at first, his entrance soon stretched over the entire competitor interval.
Rather than focus on the action in the ring, the cameras stayed on his entrance, preventing viewers at home from seeing the actual wrestling on their wrestling pay-per-view. Such was a shame, as it wasn't like the night club owner was there to make a difference.
