10 Most WTF Heel Turns In Wrestling History

10. Dusty Rhodes Joins The nWo (WCW, 1998)

Dusty Rhodes was one of the premier babyfaces for the NWA, Jim Crockett Promotions and eventually WCW. He had multiple World title runs, teamed with his son, sold out arenas across the country, had a run as a booker and by 1996 he€™d joined the WCW broadcast team to call TV shows and several PPV events. At Souled Out 1998, Larry Zbysko asked The American Dream to accompany him as he defended WCW against the evil Scott Hall, who was representing the new World order. Everything was going just fine until Louie Spicolli got involved and Dusty, seemingly helping WCW, delivered bionic elbows to Spicolli. Zbysko then held Razor for the elbow and...Rhodesnailed Zbysko? Was it an accident? All became clear when Dusty revealed an nWo shirt. He'd joined the tyrannical faction. So, one of WCW€™s most beloved legends turned heel. There must have been some intricate reason why and a great follow up planned, right? Wrong. Dusty managed Hall and Nash and stood behind the nWo during promos for the rest of the year before leaving for ECW. That was the big payoff. One of the greatest talkers in wrestling history was made a fourth tier manager and was barely allowed any promo time, only to be used as another shock defection to the nWo. Funnily enough, the angle didn€™t draw a dime and Dusty was never the same when he returned to WCW in 2000.
