For three years, Hulk Hogan led the nWo in an attempt to destroy WCW from within. However, in the summer of 1999 he decided to go back to his red and yellow roots and The Hulkster became a good guy once again. Sting wasnt so sure he could trust Hogan, believing he was in cahoots with the evil Lex Luger. But it was actually Sting that couldn't be trusted and on an episode of Nitro The Icon smashed Hogan with a baseball bat, turning heel and joining The Total Package. This was the first time Sting had ever been a heel during his whole WCW tenure. Did they have him change his look, moveset or approach as a character? Nope, he did the exact same things, just to babyfaces instead of villains. So to clarify: Hulk Hogan had been the evil leader of the new World order for three years, and we were supposed to feel bad for Hogan that Sting didnt show him any loyalty? Yeah, WCW, makes a tonne of sense that does. Even worse, a heel turn that should have been monumental happened on Nitro and meant absolutely nothing.
