10 Most WTF Heel Turns In Wrestling History

Because everyone loves a swerve, right?

There's nothing better than witnessing a heel turn you've desperately wanted to see from a stagnant babyface in need of an attitude change. We all remember Hulk Hogan turning his back on his Hulkamaniacs and joining the nWo in 1996, or The Rock becoming The Corporate Champion in 1998 just as fans had been getting behind him. There's been so many great heel turns and, given that playing the villain is often more fun for the wrestler, they are often be a joy to watch unfold. Of course, heel turns aren't always welcomed or even logical and, on other occasions, wrestlers turn heel for no real rhyme or reason. They make the switch and it kills their character to such an extent that they can never really recover. In some instances the turn is expected but the run afterwards never quite follows through on the hype and other times bookers turn a wrestler and it makes no sense whatsoever. I've went back and revisited some truly head-scratching heel turns (and subsequent heel runs) to see why they went down and to try and understand why they were so bad. When these good guys went bad, all I could really say was 'WTF?'.
