8. AJ Styles Joins Ric Flair (TNA, 2010)

The Phenomenal AJ Styles had been with TNA since their very first show and, by 2009/10, he was considered the cornerstone of the company. He'd won every championships, put on classic bouts and had, in the process, become something like the face of the organisation. The decision to turn AJ heel in 2010 wasn't a horrible one since he could cut a decent promo and adapt his style to fit the attitude change. Besides, it would have really freshened up his character. Where the idea falters is when he was paired up with Ric Flair. You see, everyone knew that in his private life Styles is a devout Christian and he was paired with a champagne-guzzling ladies man. The two did not add up. As soon as The Nature Boy helped Styles beat Kurt Angle at Genesis in 2010, AJ became second in command to Flair. Ric had so much charisma that he overshadowed AJ and that, coupled with Styles' inability to convince as the 'New Nature Boy', made this angle horrible to watch and took Styles a good year or so to recover from.
