Here's a true statement that the company often inexplicably tries to ignore: WWE is professional wrestling.

They're not just professional wrestling and they are capable of doing more than just "rasslin'", but that doesn't change the fact that WWE is in the business of professional wrestling. It's high time they embrace that.

To be fair, Vince McMahon has never claimed to be in the 'rasllin business, and he was hypercritical of Ted Turner for making such a statement. No, Vince was always one to point out that he's in the entertainment business and he's right, he absolutely is. But the entertainment that he specializes in is professional wrestling. Instead of accepting and embracing the genre of entertainment that you've specialized in for decade after decade, WWE shuns it. Why?!?

Only Vince McMahon sees his company as "broad based entertainment"; everyone else on the face of the Earth sees it as pro-wrestling.

Smart businesses recognize what they do and do it well. Sure, they try to branch out and grow their customer base, but the best businesses remember their core purpose. Not WWE. On the contrary, thanks to Vince McMahon, WWE has an identity crisis. They want to be Disney but they're not. They want to be the NFL but they're not. If they want to make their product the cool thing to watch again, they need to realize that they're pro-wrestling and embrace their true identity.
