10 Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans The Most In 2019
2. Mystique's Totally Lame Death - Dark Phoenix
Dark Phoenix as a whole was a totally deflating "finale" to Fox's X-Men universe, but the single most frustrating moment for fans was the wholly anti-climactic non-event that was Mystique's (Jennifer Lawrence) death.
It didn't help that the trailers shamelessly spoiled Mystique's fate, but the moment itself in the movie landed with virtually no impact, as the shape-shifting superhero was fatally impaled by Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).
It felt like the whatever death you'd afford to any mid-tier mutant rather than one of the most iconic members of the X-Men roster.
It didn't help that Lawrence phoned her entire performance in, but was there really not a more meaningful way to write the character out?
To add insult to injury, fans were also dismayed that, at the end of the film, the Xavier School is renamed to the "Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters" in Jean's honour...despite all the murder and mayhem she caused throughout the film.
Wouldn't the "Raven Darkholme School for Gifted Youngsters" have made more sense all things considered? Terrible.
