10 Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans The Most In 2019

3. The "Pandering" Female Superhero Fan Service - Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame was, for the most part, a hugely satisfying culmination of a decade-plus of MCU movies, though it definitely wasn't perfect, and fans certainly had some vocal complaints about it.

Sure, the Fortnite product placement sucked and Fat Thor (Chris Hemsworth) was majorly divisive, but there's a single shot in the film which sparked a ton of controversy online.

That shot is, of course, the fan service moment in the final showdown, where all of the female Avengers march forward before doing battle with Thanos' (Josh Brolin) army.

Though the subsequent action itself is a ton of fun, this shot just feels like it's pandering a little too hard, focused too much on style without any substance whatsoever, especially as so many of these female Avengers have so few lines in the movie.

After all, the MCU doesn't exactly have a great track record with being woke or inclusive - it took them 11 years and 21 films to make a female-led superhero movie, and most of their inclusivity outside of Black Panther has been off-screen lip service about the maybe-gayness of characters.

In that vein, this moment felt like hollow poseury rather than a genuine attempt to give women the on-screen representation they so thoroughly deserve.
