10 Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans The Most In 2019

9. Arthur Dances To Gary Glitter - Joker

By far the most memorable sequence from Todd Phillips' Joker is the instantly iconic scene where Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), in full Joker garb, dances down the stairs on his way to appear on Murray Franklin's (Robert De Niro) talk show.

It's almost a great scene, but one dinged by the rather unfortunate use of Gary Glitter's hit tune "Rock and Roll Part II," given that Glitter is a convicted sex offender and the optics of using one of his songs are not good, to say the least.

Glitter's crimes are less well-known outside of the UK, but even so, it's not much to expect a movie's music department to do their due diligence, especially considering the prospect that his pockets will be lined by the song's use.

Though thankfully in this case, Glitter sold the rights to the song years ago, so he won't make a penny from it appearing in Joker.

Even so, for anyone familiar with Glitter's history, the song's mere presence triggers invasive memories of his crimes, and distracts from what should otherwise be a rapturous movie moment.

It's not like there weren't hundreds if not thousands of other songs to choose from, right?
